Flower-flavored sake

Flower-like sake

Flowers are beautiful and have a nice fragrance, but when paired with sake, the flowers smell even more fragrant. Both flowers and sake are wonderful...

Himeji Castle soars into the blue sky. During the time of the castle's lord, Sakai Tadazane, sake "Meito Masamune" was once presented to the castle.

We have received faithful praise for our "delicious sake," and as proof of this we have been rewarded with a handwritten plaque reading "Hana-Kizui-Sake."

Since its founding in 1835, the company has continued to preserve the wonderful traditional skills and spirit of its predecessors. We have inherited this tradition from generation to generation, and have devoted our heart and soul to handcrafting our products, making them the "foundation" that has endured timeless trends and spanned five eras.

Our thoughts and techniques

Our passion for sake brewing

Tomohisa Tanaka

Managing Director of TANAKA SHUZOJO My name is Tomohisa Tanaka. Thank you for taking an interest in TANAKA SHUZOJO. Since its founding in 1835, TANAKA SHUZOJO has continued to take on new challenges with the times, producing sakes such as "Shirasagi no Shiro" and "Kame no Koba" based on the famous sword "Masamune".

I am filled with gratitude when I think of how many brewers have poured their hearts and souls into this brewery up until now. I have inherited our brewery's guiding principle of "learning from the past to create something new" and am passionate about creating sake. I feel that sake brewing, which is ever-changing and depends on the brewer, is my livelihood and a treasure.

We continue to adhere to the technology
we have developed over many years.

Stone-hanging balance pressing

At our brewery, we make sake using a traditional technique called Ishikake-shiki-tenbin-shiki, which has been passed down since ancient times. Although this technique has become a seasonal feature of our winter brewery, it was once shelved.

It was revived in 2000 with the desire to pass on the techniques of Ishikake-shiki-tenbin-shiki to future generations. Although it is by no means an efficient method, it has a unique flavor that can only be achieved with Ishikake-shiki-tenbin-shiki. Please enjoy the flavor.

*Some products made using the Ishikake Tenbin method are limited edition items available only from December to March.
